BIO

Dimitri Gagnon Morris is a goldsmith as well as an accomplished artist with over a decade of professional experience in the media arts (traditional animation, motion-graphics, video, design, etc.). Originally from Ottawa/Gatineau, he now lives in Montreal and dedicates most of his time to the creation of both artistic and functional objects, such as jewellery.

A nomad and mystic at heart, Dimitri has traveled the world in pursuit of inspiration. Having been raised in the arts and crafts world, he has always felt naturally inclined to working with his hands and learning new skills. He discovered a passion for metal work while taking a silversmithing workshop in Mexico, in 2010, and shortly thereafter, he enrolled in the three-year jewellery-making program at l’École de joaillerie de Montréal. In parallel to his jewellery practice, Dimitri has recently completed a degree in fine arts at Concordia University.

“I still have some of my father’s pottery, relics of my own personal history.  I believe the power of crafts lie here, in the telling of our stories.  The objects that we choose to surround ourselves with become part of our cultural identity.”
